Lectrosonics has announced a new wireless transmitter into the SM Series family. The SMQV will accept two AA batteries similar to the SMDa and the SMQa. The new wireless transmitter will also have a variable output at 50 mW, 100 mW, and 250 mW and will help increase battery life according to the application. Whether it's a camera hop or long distance, it looks like we'll be covered. Another addition to this product is the low frequency roll off in 6 steps from 35 Hz to 150 Hz. It seems that the antenna will be removable as well.

It also turns out that this will end up replacing SMQa, SMVa and the UM450 according to the Trew Audio website:

"** As of August 15, 2009, the SMQV replaces the SMQa, SMDa and UM450 in the Lectrosonics product line. **"

I'm a huge fan of Lectrosonics and their SM series, heck, I even have a couple SMa/411a systems myself. Now.. where's that new and improved Lectrosonics SR?
